SimpliSafe's new $199.99 AI doorbell pairs on-device detection with live human guards

DIY home security company SimpliSafe launched the Video Doorbell Series 2 at $199.99, adding 2K resolution and dual-band Wi-Fi.

Its AI-powered proactive security combines on-device AI, cloud-based computer vision, and facial recognition to detect suspicious activity, then lets a live SimpliSafe monitoring agent drop in on the camera to 'see, speak to, and attempt to deter potential intruders and package thieves.' The Active Guard Outdoor Protection service starts at $49.99/month — a hybrid AI-detection-plus-human-intervention security model for the front door.
