Robotaxis arrive in London via Uber and Wayve; UK think tank proposes AV levy worth up to £46bn

Uber and Wayve began offering driverless rides in London last week, with Waymo close behind. The Centre for British Progress welcomes AVs but flags three problems: hundreds of thousands of livelihoods at risk, congestion as driving's marginal cost falls to zero (California Waymos spend half their time empty), and a collapse in fuel duty revenue. Their new paper proposes a small AV charge that could raise up to £46 billion.
