EU's proposed 18GW frontier compute equals ~9M B300 GPUs, eliebakouch estimates
eliebakouch · x · 2026-09-15
Responding to a proposal for the EU to host 15% of global AI compute (45GW) by 2030, with 18GW for a frontier attempt, eliebakouch puts that at 9M B300 GPUs. He argues it's mainly for world-scale inference and raises open questions: whether EU firms can pay for the inference, if 80% of workloads need frontier models, the cost/efficiency tradeoffs, and whether CoT monitoring sets a floor on model efficiency.
