Bemo Technology to list in Hong Kong as direct-drive modules surge 45x in two years

Robot actuator startup Bemo Technology passed the HKEX hearing in June 2026, set to become the first listed "direct-drive" company in Hong Kong. Its direct-drive modules eliminate gearboxes, with motors outputting torque directly.
- Shipments grew from 186,000 units (2023) to 8.5 million (2025), a 45x jump; revenue rose from RMB 17.5M to 282M, exceeding RMB 200M in H1 2026. Its modules are half the volume, 45–50dB (vs 75dB with reducers), 50k–100k-hour lifespan, +5–10% efficiency.
- Reducers dominated for decades because robots were stationary factory tools; home/outdoor robots demand quiet, efficient, force-transparent actuation, exposing reducer drawbacks. The industry transition path is lower gear ratios (QDD, already in most domestic humanoids and Tesla Optimus).
- China's direct-drive module market is forecast to grow from RMB 1.9B (2025) to 12.9B (2030), penetration from 2.4% to 19.2%; at least 50% of reducer share is technically replaceable.
