Sen. Kennedy readies AI 'kill switch' bill mandating humans can shut off any AI agent

Per Politico, Republican Sen. John Kennedy is preparing an AI "kill switch" bill. Rep. Ted Lieu thanked him for recognizing the risk of AI models and agents going rogue, stating that the first principle of AI safety must be that humans stay in control: humans must be able to turn off any AI model or agent. The bill would target loss-of-control scenarios by mandating a human off-switch.
