Sentdex: non-EA researchers can't get frontier lab access for real alignment work
Sentdex · x · 2026-09-15
Sentdex argues that meaningful alignment/safety research requires early and often on-prem access plus compute that only frontier labs provide—and "if you're not EA, you're not getting in the door." Non-EA alignment labs exist, he adds, but they aren't doing well, highlighting how access to frontier models for safety work is gatekept by a particular community.
