18 sub-agents cut to 1: Polylane argues sub-agents are just wrong

Polylane engineers rewrote their autofix agent — once a workflow of up to 18 agents (triage, coordinator, 15 hypothesis sub-agents, coding agent) — as a single agent, reporting lower latency, better quality and slashed costs. Sentry CEO Zeeg chimed in that his own agent has no sub-agents and still handles most tasks. The takeaway: as models improve, elaborate orchestration is being replaced by one capable agent with good tools.
