Cline ships native desktop app beta: coding agent without an editor

aigclink · x · 2026-09-15

Cline released Cline for Desktop (Beta, v0.0.27) for macOS and Windows, rebuilding its coding agent as a standalone native app — no editor required. Key features: point it at a workspace and it runs the full agent with git branch visibility; bring-your-own-key native connections to Anthropic, OpenAI, Gemini, open-weight or local models with mid-project switching; queued messages you can edit and reorder while the agent works; fork-and-edit conversation rewinding to checkpoints; and unified session history across desktop, CLI, extension, and scheduled runs.
