A Reddit user released OpenTag (pre-alpha), an open-source, self-hostable Slack AI coworker built around a BYOS (bring your own subscription) idea: agents run on your own machines using logins you already pay for — Claude Code, Codex, or Pi — so the same tokens aren't billed twice. Key points:
- Delegate tasks via Slack @-mentions; agents work in the background with channel context and reply in threads
- Different workers can hold different roles (designer with Figma, engineer wired to GitHub/Linear/Sentry) and even spawn other workers
- Memory is a git-backed file system of markdown files you own
- Fully self-hostable, including the Slack-to-local server; teammates need no accounts
