Claude Code's Function Hooks bring Express-style middleware to plugins

Claude Code is shipping Function Hooks (branded Claude Mods), which the quoted author argues is a bigger deal than a new model release. Today's hooks only run small shell scripts at fixed moments and often break on Windows. Function Hooks turn plugins into real functions that can watch any tool call, block it, rewrite it, or pass it to the next plugin — an Express-style middleware pattern that unlocks use cases like hiding secrets and opens up a real plugin ecosystem.
