Sarah Hooker credits advisor Hugo Larochelle for opening deep learning to the world

Sarah Hooker praised a new profile of Hugo Larochelle, sharing that before joining Google Brain she watched all of his Sheffield lectures. At the time, she notes, deep learning knowledge belonged to fewer than 100 people, and Larochelle made it accessible to far more. He later became her PhD advisor, and she calls him an exceptional researcher who shaped much of the ecosystem.
