Karpathy's entropy question exposes the gap between old and new AI models
kamalgupta09 · x · 2026-09-15
Testing Asimov's classic question 'how can the net entropy of the universe be decreased?', Karpathy showed a boilerplate non-answer, while another model (Astra) gave a precise reply: no known method to reduce total entropy of an isolated universe, but the absolute phrasing is imprecise — covering local entropy decrease, entropy-decreasing fluctuations, and dumping entropy into black holes.
