Google Search now hides where results lead via opaque goto redirect links
Thionne_WTZ · x · 2026-09-15
Google Search has started routing result links through google[.]com/goto? followed by an opaque string only Google can resolve. Users can no longer inspect a destination before clicking or copy the original address out of the page — every click now passes through Google first.
Some users speculate this could be groundwork for an agent-economy payment system (X402-style), but this remains unconfirmed.
