- The author used his music-theory AI system — a skills library with 320+ agent skills plus a custom tool called mtdt — with GPT-6 Astra in Codex to solve a real professional task.
- The need: his brother, a working conductor at a German opera house, had to rewrite vocal parts from Verdi's Simon Boccanegra for oboes, clarinets, and bassoons, working only from a scanned 1800s edition PDF; the manual job would take hours.
- The approach: he pasted the brother's email verbatim into Astra. The main agent researched the skills library and tool, wrote a detailed prompt naming relevant skills, then launched a fresh agent in a new workspace with only those skills, the tool, and the prompt.
- Result: the agent transcribed the music into editable form, rewrote the parts, and produced a camera-ready full-score PDF plus individual instrument parts, all in editable LilyPond. Only two interventions: reuse existing instruments instead of adding new ones, and match the original's grouped-score layout.
