Boltz partners with dsm-firmenich to design scent and flavor molecules with AI

GabriCorso · x · 2026-09-14

Boltz has announced a partnership with flavor and fragrance giant dsm-firmenich to apply its latest AI foundation models to the discovery and design of new scent and flavor molecules.

The collaboration will combine Boltz's proprietary foundation models with dsm-firmenich's extensive receptor datasets and decades of sensory science expertise, building specialized models for predicting molecular interactions and designing novel molecules. Taste and odor receptors are among the least-studied proteins in the human body, and understanding how molecules interact with them opens new possibilities for ingredient design.

dsm-firmenich scientists will get access to Boltz Lab, the API, and agent integrations, with embedded Boltz researchers working alongside their teams. A notable AI-for-science deployment in the fragrance industry.
