UK needs to fix existing laws, not rush new AI regulation, ex-government adviser argues

On LBC radio, an AI for Growth project member argued against the UK rushing to adopt new AI laws: (1) fix existing legislation — especially the EU AI Act — before passing new laws; (2) resource the AI Security Institute, which leads Europe in model evaluation, rather than create more governance bodies of bureaucrats; (3) treat AI-safety discourse as a Silicon Valley bubble product and distrust US proposals written by lobbyists with unknown funding. His project runs a security workstream producing guidelines and evaluations for SMBs adopting AI at scale.
