iOS 27 private hooks let Claude replace Siri's backend as a Siri Extension
MannyKayy · x · 2026-09-14
Developers have discovered private hooks in iOS 27 and macOS Golden Gate that let apps add Siri Extensions and swap Siri AI's server backend for third-party models. In a demo, Claude runs as a Siri Extension via the Model Delegation API in App Intents, appearing in Siri's "Ask…" menu with the same flow as the built-in ChatGPT extension.
In some cases Siri Extensions can outperform Siri AI: Siri can't create a CSV, but Claude can return one directly. For system interactions like setting reminders, Claude relays the request back to Siri to complete it. The capability relies on the private com\.apple.d… API. Commenters note the EU likely forced this openness.
