Formas launches Cartesian: turn photos and sketches into editable precise 3D models

carlosbannon · x · 2026-09-14

Formas launched Cartesian (powered by ASTRA, free preview), a generative 3D tool that turns photos, floor plans, sketches or scans into precise, editable solid models guided by natural language. It offers per-object editability, inspectable/measureable geometry with clean topology (not polygon-mesh approximations), BIM-ready semantic elements, and 3DM/STL export for SketchUp and Rhino — demoed across product design, furniture, interiors, architecture and urban scale.
