Replying to Altman: The Likelier AI Failure Mode Is a Small Cabal Controlling an ASI
GlenBradley · x · 2026-09-14
Replying to Sam Altman's two AI failure modes (losing control of AI vs. concentration of power), Glen Bradley argues the likelier failure mode is a small cabal of humans controlling an ASI and using it to oppress and enslave everyone else, with fully autonomous AI takeover being far less likely though still possible.
His proposed mitigation: embedding intrinsic emergent ethics at every layer—training, runtime, and interface—prohibiting self-replication without ethical embeddings, which he argues addresses both failure modes.
