AI-written OpenSCAD + dual 12-inch fans fix NVIDIA Thor Dev Kit thermal throttling

catplusplusok · reddit · 2026-09-14

Reddit user catplusplusok's $3,500 NVIDIA Thor Dev Kit kept thermal-throttling during batch training/inference, and the stock fan made unpleasant noise. Without writing a line of OpenSCAD by hand, they had an AI agent design a 3D-printable duct driving two 12-inch quiet fans across the Thor module, NVMe heatsink, and top vents. Sustained full-speed workloads now run without throttling. Files are on GitHub; add dust filters, and ask your agent to adapt the design for other hardware.
