Unfold turns 2D assembly manuals into animated 3D guides with voice copilot, built on GPT-6 Astra
gabrielchua · x · 2026-09-14
A team at the OpenAI GPT-6 Astra Hackathon in Singapore launched Unfold, showcasing Astra's visual reasoning.
- Upload a 2D assembly manual (PDF or photos) and Unfold generates an animated, source-linked 3D guide with step views, exploded views, and part connections you can rotate and zoom.
- Snap a photo of your parts and it checks them against the manual's checklist.
- A voice copilot lets you ask it to explain or replay steps hands-free, switching steps, manual pages, and views as you talk.
- Images and voice audio go to OpenAI via paid API; the voice mode does not upload the PDF files themselves.
The app is live for trials and hackathon voting.
