A freelancer built a Gmail API script that reliably extracted tasks and deadlines from client emails. But every extracted item still required manually checking whether it was already in his status doc, done, or new — the automation just shrank the list instead of removing the sorting. He gave up after a few weeks and is asking Reddit whether anyone has actually fixed that 'last mile' of getting automated output into the system where work is tracked.
