Reddit user uses Claude Code to fix BIOS settings, kill background recorders and free 85GB on his gaming PC

A Reddit user discovered Claude Code can optimize a computer far beyond coding. Troubleshooting a stuttering gaming PC, it found memory running at 4800MT/s instead of its rated 6000 (one BIOS setting fixed it), updated an early-2024 BIOS, raised the frame cap from 150 to 225 (now holding 217), and shut down three always-on background recorders (NVIDIA, SteelSeries, Xbox Game Bar) plus 30 useless vendor startup services. It also freed 85GB and did a cleanup pass on his MacBook. He notes deletions were confirmed via a list, not done autonomously, and that Claude Code — unlike Cowork — runs on the machine itself, which is what enabled system-level access.
