Responding to micsolana's claim that companies can coordinate on safety like airlines do, Dean Ball argues airlines share safety information largely because the law compels them, and voluntary programs in aviation mirror structures the AI industry already has (e.g. FMF) — but that is very different from coordinating to modulate development progress.
