Open-Source ComfyUI Assistent Lets Local LLMs Inspect and Edit Your Workflow

HungryDonat · reddit · 2026-09-13

A developer released ComfyUI Assistent, an open-source extension embedding an AI assistant directly into ComfyUI. It can inspect active workflows and node connections, explain nodes using installed documentation, add/remove/connect nodes, change widget values, auto-arrange layouts, edit prompts, highlight nodes on canvas, validate graphs after edits, search the web, install custom node repos after confirmation, remember preferences across sessions, and compact long conversations for local models. It supports LM Studio and Ollama locally plus OpenAI-compatible and Anthropic APIs (only LM Studio tested), with web search via Tavily, Brave, or SerpAPI. The goal is making local LLMs actually operate the ComfyUI graph through tools. Manual install from GitHub for now; the author is seeking feedback.
