Free LTX 2.5 IC-LoRA turns painted doodles into smoke and fire sims, trained in 8 GPU hours
xCaYuSx · reddit · 2026-09-13
A VFX artist open-sourced an IC-LoRA for LTX 2.5 that turns painted blobs on first/last frames into animated smoke, steam or fire. Trigger word ainvfxfluid; a laptop 4090 renders a 5s 512x512 clip in 50s with the distilled model.
Key workflow rules:
- Control video: 121 frames, dimensions in multiples of 64, first frame at index 0, last at 120
- Intermediate keyframes must sit on the LTX VAE grid (frames 1, 9, 17... 113 — multiples of 8 plus 1), or quality drops fast
- Painted color and shading carry through (a darker grey edge returns as shading)
- Prompts mainly remove unwanted content ("over a black background" kills invented foreground)
- Only smoke/steam/fire; other fluids untested
A 45-minute tutorial covers install from scratch, including a Kornia pad import bug fix and the gated Lightricks downloads. Trained on 52 free Pexels clips in under 8 GPU hours; the recipe is on the model card so you can train LoRAs for other elements. Model and workflow: huggingface.co/AInVFX/ainvfx-fluid.
