DanWahlin · x · 2026-09-13
DanWahlin open-sourced his ESP32 Agent Companion project: a desk companion whose first character is inspired by GitHub Copilot, running locally on a Waveshare ESP32-S3 touch AMOLED round screen with no Wi-Fi, cloud account, or subscription required.
- Smooth 30 FPS animation with 8 gaze directions and occasional blinks
- Touch triggers a spring-like recoil and widened eyes
- Displays Working, Complete, and Needs attention states for your agent tasks
- On-device swipe-up settings for brightness and sound
- Firmware written in C++ with Arduino IDE, developed using Copilot CLI
