Naval amplifies rebuttal of 'frontier labs lie about AI safety for IPO' conspiracy theory
naval · x · 2026-09-13
Ed Leon Klinger argues the claim that frontier labs are lying about AI safety to pump IPOs and capture regulators is a conspiracy theory: it would require Altman, Amodei, Hassabis and Musk plus execs and resigning employees to all lie, and labs wouldn't voluntarily accept scrutiny that slows them during record ARR growth. OpenAI even said it would delay its IPO over safety concerns — risking the biggest liquidity event ever. Naval shared the post approvingly.
