Bratton responds to Dario's 'pace the frontier' essay: society, not tech, is the bottleneck

Dario Amodei published a new essay, We Must Pace the Frontier, arguing the AI industry should slow down via a three-part plan, with Anthropic unilaterally committing to the first step: giving third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access to its systems to verify safety measures, report incidents, and assess alignment during training.
Benjamin Bratton, quoting the essay, offers a different response via Antikythera's Alignment Gap framework: for perhaps the first time in history, the limiting factor isn't what technology can do, but how quickly humans and institutions can absorb and adapt to it — so the lever is accelerating societal transformation, not pacing AI.
