A viral post claimed that AGI has essentially arrived at OpenAI and Anthropic but is being kept private, with models months from public release — triggering employee existential crises and US-China race anxieties.
Hugging Face researcher Niels Rogge quote-tweeted it with a blunt warning: "Do not fall for this kind of crap." The rumor comes from anonymous sources and should be treated as unverified speculation.
