Caltech Mathathon recruits 100 math teams with $20k AI credits to test frontier models

A Caltech student org is launching the Mathathon to explore responsible AI use in pure math, citing recent frontier-model breakthroughs. Round 1 is an onsite 40-hour event (Oct 30–Nov 1) giving 100 teams $20k+ in AI credits; winners get additional credits for 6 more months, ending in an arXiv preprint and formalized submission. All AI chat logs will be open-sourced, travel covered, and compute equalized to keep frontier model access open to the math community.
