Sam Altman confirmed in a Fortune magazine interview that OpenAI will not go public in 2026. "Given everything happening with safety, this would be an ill-advised moment to go public," he said. When Fortune's editor-in-chief Alyson Shontell pressed on a potential 2027 IPO, Altman only said, "I would say not 2026."
