Dario Amodei calls on AI industry to slow down; Anthropic opens systems to third-party evaluators
StewartalsopIII · x · 2026-09-13
Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published a new essay, "We Must Pace the Frontier," arguing the AI industry should slow down and laying out a three-part plan for doing so.
As the first step, Anthropic is unilaterally committing to give third-party evaluators permanent, employee-level access to its systems, so they can verify adherence to safety measures, report incidents, and assess model alignment during training.
It's a rare public pro-"slowdown" stance from a frontier lab CEO, backed by a concrete external-oversight commitment.
