Caroline Ellison, ex-FTX exec, joins EA-linked prediction market firm Manifund after prison
beenwrekt · x · 2026-09-12
Manifund, the grantmaking platform spun out of prediction market Manifold, has hired Caroline Ellison full-time to develop its funding platform and research effective philanthropy. She began a work trial on July 13 under the pseudonym "Carol" and converted to full-time on Aug 10, publishing her work over the past two months.
Founder Austin Chen cites his debt to FTX's Future Fund, which seeded Manifold and drew him into the EA community, while acknowledging FTX's harm to users. He frames the hire as an act of "redemption": Ellison has admitted fault, helped repay creditors, and served her prison time. The poster remarks that an FTX-funded company hiring Ellison to manage philanthropy is almost too surreal to make up.
