Clay Institute Marks No Milestones in 26 Years, Funding Mostly Goes to Postdocs

Some have questioned the Clay Mathematics Institute, arguing that since establishing the Millennium Prize 26 years ago it has produced little beyond small prizes and grants, calling it "a prestige-manufacturing business." Mathematician littmath (frequently cited in Steven Strogatz's circle, and actually connected to a Fields medalist) responded that the institute's funding mainly supports the Clay Fellowship — highly prestigious postdoctoral positions.
