Flying humanoid robot installs AC on 30th floor in China, remote operator replaces rope climbers
TansuYegen · x · 2026-09-12
Footage from China shows a propeller-driven humanoid flying robot hovering 30 floors up to install an air conditioner, remotely piloted by an operator on the ground — spots previously reachable only by rope-access climbers. Its developers say it needs no safety harness because no human is at height, and claim it can also fight high-rise fires beyond ladder trucks. Commentator Tansu Yegen argues the real disruption isn't the robot but liability: who pays when a flying installer drops a compressor onto the sidewalk?
