Foundry Robotics raises $100M Series A to build factories that look like data centers

Foundry Robotics announced a $100M Series A led by MarlinspikeVC with Khosla Ventures participating, plus a new 130,000 sq ft factory in Emeryville, California, already shipping to paying customers in energy, telecom, autonomous vehicles, and defense.
CEO Adarsh Kulkarni describes the facility as between a warehouse, a data center and a factory: GPUs under each work cell, fiber from the ceiling, a mini data center on-site, bimanual robotic work cells linked by mobile robots, humans collaborating alongside.
He also unveiled a custom fastening end effector — highly reliable, robotics-oriented, and dramatically cheaper than off-the-shelf options — pushing back on the common approach of using a complex robot to hold a drill.
