Qualcomm previews next-gen Snapdragon: 5GHz Oryon CPU, new Hexagon NPU, AI GPU cores
智东西 · wechat · 2026-09-12
Qualcomm has previewed key upgrades for its next flagship Snapdragon mobile platform, all aimed at on-device agentic AI. The new Hexagon NPU adds an Element Accelerator for Transformer workloads, larger shared memory to keep KV-cache near compute, and an MoE architecture (30B-parameter model activating 3B per token), with up to 50% prefill gains on INT4 and sub-1.5s first-token latency. The Oryon CPU hits 5GHz — a mobile first — and introduces Flex Cache, a dynamic shared cache pool across cores. On GPU, Adreno Neural Fusion integrates neural processing, AI upscaling and frame generation into the graphics pipeline, with new AI-specific Adreno Matrix Cores and 18MB HPM memory, already supported by Unity and Unreal Engine, with games shipping this year. These changes underpin the 2026 flagship AI phone battle.
