TII released Falcon OCR 1.5, a tiny 270M-parameter OCR model. Version 1 already handled academic PDFs well; v1.5 extends coverage to historical scans, handwriting, receipts, and scene text while reducing hallucinations. Community members suggested a leaderboard run, one reviewer plans a careful evaluation next week, and an official vLLM Docker image is available for deployment.
