Glider.game: shipping an AI-generated paper plane game for ~$360 in GPT-6 Astra tokens
mrtwizzles · reddit · 2026-09-12
A Reddit user fed a paper glider prompt from bridgebench to GPT-6 Astra xhigh, got a playable game overnight, then spent 3-4 hours polishing and shipped Glider.game for desktop and mobile. Cost breakdown: $40 for AI generation, $320 for tweaks/deployment/shipping, $360 total.
Manual additions:
- UI: stripped AI-generated fluff, normalized fonts, buttons and modals
- Mobile: had Astra add thumb controls for boost and steering
- Audio: licensed a chill track from AudioJungle
- Cloud saves via Supabase with username+PIN cross-device sync and autosave
- Free flight mode: Minecraft-style objective-less cruising with smooth biome blending — "it nailed it"
The lesson: the gameplay core from AI was already solid, but UI polish, mobile adaptation and infrastructure still demanded human work. Next up: a leaderboard.
