TrenTorch: Free Open-Source ML Platform Rebuilds Deep Learning From NumPy in 20 Modules
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-09-12
A team launched TrenTorch, a free, open-source platform for learning ML, deep learning, inference systems and CUDA from scratch, with the stated goal that education shouldn't be limited by money.
- 20 progressive modules build from Tensor to Transformer one op at a time, each building on the last
- NumPy underneath: no black-box dependencies; every operation is traceable to readable raw NumPy
- Systems focus: memory, performance and scaling analysis built into the curriculum
- Historical milestones: students rebuild the perceptron, CNN and transformer, plus Codeforces-style problems
The project is backed by Mintlify and actively seeking sponsors for compute and funding.
