Frank Nielsen, Senior Researcher (Fellow) at Sony Computer Science Laboratories and IEEE Fellow, has published work on guaranteed arbitrary-precision approximations of the Fisher-Rao geodesic distance between two normal distributions N(μ1,Σ1) and N(μ2,Σ2), with the PDF publicly available. Nielsen is a leading figure in information geometry, known for the pyBregMan library for Bregman manifolds, approximation and bounding techniques for Fisher-Rao distances (Handbook of Statistics, 2024), and numerous papers on f-divergences, generalized Jensen-Shannon divergence, and Chernoff information.
