OpenAI hackathon tips: match Astra/Sol/Terra/Luna to tasks, lean on Agents API
gabrielchua · x · 2026-09-12
Ahead of a global weekend of OpenAI hackathons, developer gabrielchua shared practical tips for getting more done with limited time and hackathon credits:
- Pick models per task: Astra for the hardest end-to-end workflows, Sol for deep analysis and polish, Terra for everyday coding and tool use, and Luna for clear, repeatable tasks — usable in Codex or your own apps and agents.
- Go multimodal: gpt-live-1 can delegate to other models; add images, transcription, and translation via gpt-image-2.5, gpt-live-transcribe, and gpt-live-translate.
- Cloud agents: the Agents API ships with sandboxes, compaction, and multi-agent support out of the box.
