The Anthropic Economic Institute published three scenarios for AI's impact on U.S. jobs and output by 2030 and asked 10,980 adults. Most gravitate to the middle path:

Key mechanism: people believe AI tools can do most knowledge tasks shown to them, but expect companies to actually automate less than half of that work. The three curves stay close through 2027 before diverging.
