Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon join PyTorch Foundation board as Platinum members

The PyTorch Foundation announced on September 8 at PyTorch Conference China in Shanghai that Alibaba Cloud and Cambricon joined as Platinum members, each gaining a Governing Board seat and one on the Technical Advisory Council. For non-NVIDIA accelerator users the TAC seat matters most: Cambricon's MLU PyTorch backend has lived out of tree, lagging after releases, and the seat gives it a direct channel to push support upstream. The author notes a governance seat is not a benchmark and the silicon is not suddenly matching an H100; over 250 Chinese organizations were already contributing to foundation projects. Both firms are lines in CNQQ (Alibaba 8.67%, Cambricon 2.62%).
