Bipartisan AI Workforce Commission Launches, Co-Chaired by Raimondo and Paul Ryan

Brendan McCord announced he joined the new bipartisan Commission on AI and the Future of the American Workforce, hosted by AEI and the Urban Institute and co-chaired by former Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and former House Speaker Paul Ryan.

Over the next year, commissioners from business, labor, academia and government (including Erik Brynjolfsson) will draft practical policy playbooks covering presidential platforms and federal/state policy agendas.

McCord flags three questions: how to make workers less dependent on employers as AI makes employers less dependent on workers; how to educate people beyond merely training for what machines can't yet do; and how people sustain independent judgment when deferring to AI improves their work.
