OpenAI launches Agents API beta: production-grade cloud agents in one API call
AI寒武纪 · wechat · 2026-09-11
OpenAI released the Agents API in public beta: one API call spins up production-ready cloud agents running on the same infrastructure behind Codex and ChatGPT enterprise. Key capabilities: automatic context compression for multi-hour sessions; tool search that loads definitions on demand (full MCP support) to cut token costs; and multi-agent orchestration with parallel subagents. Developers can choose OpenAI's hosted sandbox, private VPCs, or partners like Cloudflare, E2B, Modal, and Vercel. Built on the open-source Codex core, with no platform fee — pay only for model tokens and tool usage.
