Instinct launches agent-to-agent protocol to coordinate your plans, sparking 'friction is the point' backlash

Instinct (@noahrshinn) introduced the Instinct-to-Instinct communication protocol, letting your AI agent talk directly to other people's agents to coordinate plans: syncing schedules with a spouse, planning weekend trips with dates and arrival times, scheduling with colleagues, hosting events for tens or hundreds of people, and managing recurring plans like tennis or book clubs.

Developer Sahil Handapanda, a heavy Instinct user, pushed back: abstracting personal human communication away feels wrong. "The friction is the point" — busywork should be optimized, but he can't imagine wanting his agent to talk to his mom's agent, given how rare chances to actually talk to her already are.
