AUAR's MicroFactory brings a deployable robotic wood-panel factory to the construction site

- AUAR, founded by Mollie Claypool and Gilles Retsin, built the MicroFactory: a compact, deployable cell that turns timber into structural panels for homes, with the factory driving to the building site.
- Instead of repetition, the system is designed around variation: housing has no two identical parts, with differing designs, panel dimensions and variable timber.
- Their MasterBuilder software decomposes a digital building design into panels, components and robotic action sequences, generating a fresh production plan for every panel rather than replaying one program.
- The machines also have to cope with real-world material imperfections like non-straight timber.
