Fruit flies trained to write: neural signals turn insect legs into a font generator

A bizarre project called Fruitfly projects letter images into fruit flies' eyes; the visual signals pass through a trained neural network wired to the fly's neural circuitry, triggering motor neurons that move a pen-tipped foreleg to trace letters. The result is four handwriting font styles covering Hangul (11,172 characters), Latin letters and symbols, with a live web demo that runs entirely locally.
